Job Description:

Working out of Peace River, AB and reporting to the General Manager, the Project
Coordinator/Estimator will be responsible for assisting our Project Managers, foreman
and superintendents in organizing our ongoing projects related to water and sewer, deep
servicing and civil works.

 

Responsibilities:

  • All aspects of estimating including, site visits/meetings, takeoffs, obtaining vendor/subcontractor pricing, preparation of quotes and estimates and final tender submission

  • Issuance of purchase orders and organizing and confirming delivery of goods and services.

  • Prepare and sustain project plans, project schedules, work hours, budgets, progress estimates, productivity tracking, expenditures, project resources and materials.

  • Engage in professional interactions, lead project meetings and prepare and document meeting notes between yourself and the client, consultant and/or subcontractors to support the teams ongoing progression

  • Manage project financials; track change order submissions, client approval, prepare and submit invoices and monthly progress estimates and project closeout

  • Project closeout, including document archival, maintenance and warranty manuals, deficiencies, and warranty work.

  • Other duties as required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in engineering, construction management or a related
    field.

  • 3–5 years of progressive construction experience with leadership and mentoring
    preferred.

  • Experience with civil works and water, sewer & storm systems pertaining to
    subdivisions, municipal infrastructure, rehabilitation work as well as new
    installations preferred.

  • Working understanding of construction equipment and techniques, drawings and
    specifications, project health, safety and environment and required standards as
    per discipline.

  • Basic understanding of construction law and contract specifications.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Proven flexibility and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Planning, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to multitask,
    prioritize own work, and delegate simple tasks.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Ability to create a comprehensive schedule.

  • Ability to administer subcontracts and contract documents.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Project and ability to learn
    new project management software and technology.

  • Ability to read and interpret contract documents, contract drawings and grades.

  • Survey experience is an asset.

  • Experience with other scopes of construction is an asset (earthworks, concrete,
    bridge work, structural, industrial, etc.).

  • Experience with HeavyBid or other bidding software is an asset.

  • Current Standard First Aid and relative safety tickets will be considered an asset.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract are required.

 

Working Conditions:

  • The position is located in Peace River, Alberta.

  • The Company may provide assistance with housing or relocation expenses.

  • This position is identified as safety sensitive.

  • This position consists of a combination of office and field work. Field work involves diverse weather and ground conditions.

  • Some out of town, weekends and extended working hours will be required
